Our story started back in 2006 when we tried cover crops on a 60 acre field on our own farm. Little did we know that 60 acre field would transition into custom seeding 6,000 acres per year, selling parts and equipment, working with other farmers to obtain financial cost share dollars and providing other products and services that increase soil efficiency.
Throughout high school and college, my dad and I sold cover crop seed and custom seeded cover crops for neighbors. By the time I was graduating college, we had built up a strong business, but weren’t sure where to take it. The farm wasn’t big enough for me to just come back and start farming full-time, so I adjusted and farmed part-time while having a full-time job while also custom seeding cover crops. We ran a lot of late nights and early mornings, but we made it work and got it all done.
Fast forward to 2021, while I still had a full-time job in the financial ag-tech industry and was farming and doing custom seeding, our family got hit with the news that Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. This was crushing but that also lead us to having to decide whether to continue having three different jobs to try and make it all work or do we bet on ourselves and go all in on our cover crop business. We chose to grow and expand our cover crop business by seeding more acres, selling more seed, start selling parts and equipment, helping other farmers obtain cost share incentives and offering humic and fulvic products to increase soil efficiency.
We are excited to help other farmers and share our excitement in the future of cover crops! We hope that by even helping farmers make small changes, that it helps not only their farm be successful, but also helps the community.
We’re here today because of our customers. Our customers are the reason why we select products and offer services that actually provides value.
From communication to seed and equipment, details matter. We focus on the little things and that leads to success.
Growth doesn’t just happen. We are intentional in what we do and how we decide to grow and expand.
Cover crops are more than just a field practice, they are a deep-rooted passion of ours.
We never wanted to be just another cover crop business. We wanted to be a business that provides value across multiple sectors within the cover crop community.
If cover crops didn’t work for us on our own farm we wouldn’t be using them. We now seed thousands of acres of cover crops every year, help other farmers increase their soil efficiency while providing a financial return and offer the most dependable parts and equipment to farmers and other cover crop businesses.
